This statement piece is a cumulation of 44 hours over a couple weeks of hands on time in my wood shop, as well as a decade of design. I brought together my newer styles with my classic geometric mosaics to create a one of a kind artwork highlighting the diversity and majesty of the Himalayan range.
I created the sky in this piece using every single piece of cedar I could find in my inventory that had variation based on age or section of the tree. There is also a light soy blue grey stain used to add more variation to the geometric mosaic in the sky.
I incorporated hand sanding, dremel shaping, scroll cutting, jig saw cutting, hand drawing, and multiple other techniques to design these works.
Each piece of wood used in this piece was selected for its grain pattern, patina, texture, and/or color.
